and got our 4 wheel drive stuck in some of the slickest mud I've seen. It stuck to everything, filled the tire treads...

then in typical Guatemalan fashion through the cornfields that surround the home.
Gentle knock at the door, and Dick gets an awesome smile for a greeting. I wasn't close enough to get that first smile.
but I got a later smile. This young lady has icthyosis. If Dick had not found her it would have soon gotten severe enough to have effectively blinded her.

Here you can see the dry skin of icthyosis. Dick says this is markedly improved from when he first "got lost" and found her.
